“Made in Harsewinkel” has been a stamp of quality for more than 30 years, with Pokolm’s tool holders playing a key role in meeting the special requirements of various applications and machining processes.

By using the right tool holder and fitting technique for the job, you can unlock a tool system’s full capabilities for maximum performance and efficiency.

Pokolm tool holders and tool systems are perfectly tailored to one another, and the Pokolm modular system offers maximum flexibility and process reliability to meet every customer requirement.

If the Pokolm modular system doesn’t quite allow for the configuration you require, it is possible to customize tool holders or manufacture them to customer specifications.

Highlights

  • The hollow taper shank is a machine interface in accordance with DIN ISO 69893.

    Hollow taper shank (HSK)

The hollow taper shank is a machine interface in accordance with DIN 69893. Torque transmission is both non-positive and positive, with a friction fit between the taper and contact surface on the one hand and positive locking with a dog notch on the other. Thanks to its more compact design and lower weight compared to a steep taper, the hollow taper shank enables faster tool changes. Further advantages of using hollow taper shanks include the high speeds that can be reached and the excellent changeover accuracy. The tight taper tolerances keep radial run-out to a minimum. The flat contact surface ensures significantly higher bending stiffness of the holders in comparison to a steep taper.

  • The steep taper is a machine-side interface for tool holders in accordance with DIN ISO 7388-1.

    Steep taper (SK)

The steep taper is a machine-side interface for tool holders in accordance with DIN ISO 7388-1. It offers a robust and stable design as well as high stiffness against twisting. The tool holder is held in place with a pull stud, while the taper surface ensures centering. However, the steep taper has limited accuracy and is designed for lower speed ranges of up to approx. 12,000 rpm.

  • With the Pokolm Duoplug connection system, the holding forces between the tool and the mounting system act over the entire surface of the entire shrink fit.

    Duoplug®

The Pokolm Duoplug® system offers optimum stability and maximum precision. In contrast to conventional screw-in tools, the holding forces between the tool and the holding system are spread over the entire surface of the shrink fit as well as large parts of the thread. This combination of positive and non-positive locking results in high radial run-out accuracy and maximum stability. This enables the tools to perform roughing and finishing operations on cavities up to ten times their diameter reliably and economically.

  • A golden Coolcap screwed onto an HSK holder. Coolcap holders are an optimum system for the effective cooling and lubrication of solid carbide tools.

    Coolcap®

Coolcap® holders offer an ideal system for the effective cooling and lubrication of solid carbide tools. The volume flow rate and discharge velocity are specially adapted to the milling cutters used as well as to various cooling media. Optimized caps are available for the use of both emulsions and MQL or compressed air. These enable the direct supply of the cooling medium to the tool–work interface, which significantly extends the tool life and enables higher cutting values. By using Coolcap®, chips are reliably removed from the cutting zone – including from deep and narrow cavities.

  • The BT machine connection in accordance with JIS B 6339-2 has a robust and stable design.

    BT interface

The BT machine interface in accordance with JIS B 6339-2 (corresponds to DIN ISO 73882) is similar to the steep taper in its design. The build is robust and stable, and the tool holder is again held in place with a pull stud. The advantages and disadvantages are therefore similar to those of the steep taper.

  • Holders with flat contact surfaces are mounted directly on the machine spindle. They offer maximum stability.

    Flat contact surfaces

Holders with flat contact surfaces are mounted directly on the machine spindle. They offer maximum stability and rigidity for very long tool overhangs in heavy-duty machining. Holders with flat contact surfaces are designed with fixing holes in accordance with DIN 1830 for mounting on milling spindle heads in accordance with DIN 2079.

  • The Pokolm modular system offers an extremely diverse range of adapters and accessories for tool holders.

    Adapters and accessories

The Pokolm modular system offers an extremely diverse range of adapters and accessories for tool holders. With many adapters to choose from, we enable maximum flexibility in the configuration of your tool holding system. Solid carbide and heavy-duty metal rods and collet chucks round off the range.
