Since being developed in 2009, Spinworx® has completely redefined the round insert. The highly productive, time-saving milling system stands for short production times and is both reliable and economical.
As indexable milling cutters, Spinworx® tool systems are equipped with up to ten self-rotating cutting inserts, depending on the version. The 100% utilization of the entire cutting edge ensures even wear of the inserts over their entire circumference during milling. Compared to standard round insert cutters, there is no need to manually adjust the position of the inserts either. Spinworx® tools achieve much longer tool lives without stopping the production process and can, depending on the milling parameters, also enable higher material removal rates Spinworx makes it possible to machine workpieces with minimal manpower.
The geometry of Spinworx® tools enables optimum chip removal, especially when machining pockets and slots. The rounded outer contour also effectively prevents chips from sticking to the tool.
The inserts, which are optimally tailored to the mill body, are embedded in the body to block chips, while the cylindrical running surface of the insert has a precisely defined contact area. A pin inserted from the back ensures that the insert has a secure fit. The cylindrical part of the pin provides additional support in the tool body. The pins and inserts are married to one another and every combination is quality-tested. All Spinworx® inserts are also equipped with a high-precision race. This ensures constant rotation and complements the properties of the embedded insert seat.
Spinworx® tool bodies are made from a high-quality base material so they can handle the high tool running times achieved with a single set of cutting inserts. In addition, the quality of the self-rotating inserts is another decisive factor for the process reliability of Spinworx® tool systems
Spinworx® is ideal for roughing and rest machining, plunging and ramping as well as face, slot, shoulder and pocket milling. Cutting inserts with and without a concave molding as well as various cutting edge geometries are available for a wide range of applications.
