Round insert cutters

As standard, the milling tools are available with diameters between 12 mm and 160 mm. The tools are available with an axial angle of 0° and 7°. With a neutral insert seat, work can be carried out with particularly precise contours, while the 7° positive insert seats ensure low power consumption and therefore a particularly soft cut.

All cutters are available as screw-in or shell-type milling cutters (shank and Weldon) and with Pokolm’s DuoPlug® clamping system for maximum radial run-out accuracy and stiffness.

The round insert cutters in sizes r6 and r8 are also available with a backing plate. This provides the tool body with optimum protection against breakage when machining workpieces. The backing plate is made of hardened steel, ground to thickness but not through-hardened, meaning it functions as a shock-absorber.

In addition, in the “VD” tool series, round insert cutters have been developed with special vibration-damping properties to reduce vibration issues in challenging applications. For maximum process reliability, all models have an internal coolant supply.

Whether they are used as face milling cutters, shoulder cutters, slotting cutters, pocket cutters or copy cutters, round insert milling cutters can effortlessly perform linear and circular ramping as well as vertical plunge cuts into different materials and are also therefore suitable for plunge drilling.

Available in various sizes and designs, the round insert milling cutters can machine steel, high-temperature alloys such as titanium, cast iron, non-ferrous metals or stainless steels and are suitable for many metalworking industries and a wide range of applications.
